FOOTWEAR

Podplus stocks a wide range of the latest running trainers from brands such as Brooks, HOKA, New Balance, and On. The range includes options with varying levels of cushioning, support, and fit, suitable for walkers, runners, and anyone looking for reliable everyday comfort.

Our team of trained shoe fitters is available to guide you through the process, taking into account factors such as foot shape, movement, and how you plan to use the shoes. Well-fitted footwear can play an important role in reducing the risk of common issues such as plantar fasciitis (heel pain), shin splints, and knee discomfort—conditions often linked to repetitive strain and poor support.

For a more detailed assessment, you can book a gait analysis for £25 with one of our expert fitters. This involves looking at how you walk or run to identify patterns like pronation and overall movement, helping to narrow down options that are more suitable for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR GAIT ANALYSIS

Our gait analysis is a simple, focused assessment designed to help you find the right pair of shoes for your feet, your movement, and your goals.

1. CONSULTATION

We’ll start with a chat about you. We’ll ask about your main activities (running, walking, gym, everyday use), your goals, any injuries, and your current or previous footwear.

2. STATIC ASSESSMENT

We’ll take a look at your feet and how you stand. This includes:

  • Heel position (pronated, neutral, or supinated)
  • Arch height (low, moderate, or high)
  • Forefoot visibility (how much of your forefoot is visible from behind)
  • Your foot’s ability to pronate and supinate
  • Tip toe test (High Gear A / Low Gear B)

This gives us an idea of your foot type, structure, and how your feet naturally move.

3. DYNAMIC GAIT ASSESSMENT

We’ll observe you walking and running to assess how your feet move in motion. We look at three key phases:

  • Heel strike
  • Mid-stance
  • Toe-off

For each phase, we identify whether you are a pronator, neutral, or supinator. This helps us understand how your feet function throughout your gait cycle.

4. SHOE RECOMMENDATIONS

Using the results, we’ll recommend trainers that suit your foot type, movement, and activity. You’ll be able to try on different options with guidance from our team.

5. YOUR REPORT

We’ll talk you through the findings, answer any questions, and make sure you leave confident in your choice.
