What to expect from your assessment

At Podplus, our biomechanical assessment appointments are designed to identify and address the underlying causes of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction affecting the feet and lower limbs. This type of assessment is appropriate for individuals experiencing foot, ankle, knee, hip, or lower back pain, recurrent injuries, or concerns about their gait or foot posture.

Your appointment will begin with a detailed medical history to ensure a full understanding of your symptoms, activity levels, and any contributing factors. This is followed by a comprehensive biomechanical assessment, including both static (standing) evaluation and dynamic gait analysis, allowing us to assess how your body moves and functions during walking or running.

Based on our findings, we will develop an individualised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include footwear advice, targeted strength and conditioning exercises, and, where clinically indicated, the prescription of custom orthotics. Our aim is to optimise function, reduce pain, and support long-term musculoskeletal health.

Custom Prescription Orthotics

£495

Custom orthotics are individually designed to support your foot function and improve overall biomechanics. They may be recommended where there is clear clinical need, particularly for persistent pain or when simpler treatments haven’t been effective.

At Podplus, we take a conservative approach — many patients improve with footwear advice, exercises, or off-the-shelf insoles. Custom orthotics are only suggested when we believe they will provide genuine benefit.

Custom Orthotics (2nd pair)

£395

Additional pairs of your custom orthotics are available at a discounted price. We encourage patients to wait for their first pair so we can ensure they are correct before purchasing additional pairs.

Shockwave ESWT Therapy

£100/session

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment used to stimulate healing in persistent soft tissue injuries. Commonly used for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and other chronic tendon or ligament issues.

Treatment involves delivering targeted acoustic waves to the affected area, helping to improve blood flow and promote tissue repair. Typically considered when symptoms have not responded to initial treatments.

Introductory package: 3 sessions for £200 (save £100). Minimum of 3 sessions required.
