What is an ingrown toenail?
An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, often causing pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes infection.
Early assessment and treatment can prevent the condition from worsening and reduce discomfort. Before any treatment is carried out, all patients are required to attend an initial consultation.
In some cases, it may be possible to treat the problem during the first appointment by carefully removing the offending portion of the nail without local anaesthetic, provided this can be done comfortably.
