Unfortunately during the coronavirus pandemic the government do not consider it essential to keep you fitted out with new running shoes! 

… Here are Podplus top tips to keep you moving… 

So our top tips for keeping your old shoes going for as long as possible: 

  • Only wear your running shoes when you run - It might sound silly but every step will compress the cushioning and support further.. 
  • Undo your shoe laces – the structure of your shoe will last longer so look after those precious shoes 
  • Run on the verge or softer ground where possible – your shoe would normally absorb the impact from a road when running – but when they are near the end of their life your body tends to take the brunt of it hence feeling some niggles – keeping to the verge or softer ground will help reduce the impact and be kinder to your body 
  • Rotate your shoes – even if you have some really old shoes, or a pair of trail shoes – its worth digging them out get some variation on your feet in this time of need.  Rotating also  gives your shoes 24 -48 hours rest between runs to allow the midsole to rebound
